|01:36 pm - I am such a freaking nerd...|
Sometimes, I'm such a nerd that I can't quite even bear it.
I went home for lunch today, to eat leftover spaghetti. As it's microwaving, I look in the living room and see that my DVR is recording something. What on earth could it be recording on daytime TV??
Well, I'd forgotten that I told it to record parts of the Olympics. I turn the TV on to see what's recording, and end up getting sucked into Curling.
Curling! USA versus Germany in the 5th end. I stood there, bowl of spaghetti in-hand, for a 30 full minutes. As Germany threw their last stone, I caught myself screaming at the TV... "Come on!! Miss you bastard! MIIIIISSSS!!!!!"
Screaming. At the TV. At 1:15 in the afternoon.
Current Mood: amused

There is nothing wrong with being a curling fan! NOTHING! (So take off, you hoser!)
Also: Awwwww, you started watching it without me?! There's a reason we were recording that, you know...

I'm not sure if I should be disturbed by or celebrating the percentage of my friends who are at least vaguely interesting in curling...
[oops, that was me...forgot to log in]
I even have the imagined tableau complete with spaghetti noodle hanging out of your mouth.
It's not nerdy to like curling. :)
At work today someone came into the break room and saw curling on it. They shouted: "Is that curling?! I didn't know that was real! I thought the Simpsons just made that up!"

Screaming at curling on the TV is to nerdiness, as not believing it exists is to a dangerous ignorance of the world at-large.
Send that person to Remedial Canadian-ness 101, stat!! ;)
I've played hockey against someone so slow that people called her "The Hypnotist" because they can't help becoming mesmerized as the rest of the game whooshes around them in a blur of activity.
Maybe curling is your Hypnotist as 60 mph slalom skiing and 40 mph speed skating zip across your tv.
By the way, I do want to try curling. The only two places I know of to find it in this area are at private clubs. Do you know of any anywhere else?
